- merpnderp 9y agoAbsolutely. I live in literally the middle of nowhere and we can't find software engineers even though the cost of living is 90% of the national median. Here a $200k house is a mansion.
- King-Aaron 9y agoWhere abouts, if you don't mind me asking? I'm an Australian, and the American midwest/countryside is quite appealing to me. (Cities... not so much.)
- merpnderp 9y agoBetween Dallas and Oklahoma City in a small town over an hour from a major interstate.
- jdhn 9y ago>small town over an hour from a major interstate. This is probably why your company can't retain starting grads. Sure, the CoL may be lower, but the vast majority of young grads want something with more hustle and bustle. Source: I was a young grad who lived & worked in a small town about an hour from the nearest interstate, but moved to a metro area after a year in that area.
- Multicomp 9y agoOkay for those of us who _aren't_ after a hustle/bustle life, whats the town/county name if that's not too prying a question to ask?
- akvadrako 9y agoBut you are probably offering less money than in big hubs.
- merpnderp 9y agoWe're competitive with Dallas and Oklahoma City, and offer offer a bit more than average for starting grads, but we can't keep them.
