I don't quite get why the citations for major institutions have grown at a rate of ~10K per year since the late 90s, but much fewer for the decade before that.

I don't quite get why the citations for major institutions have grown at a rate of ~10K per year since the late 90s, but much fewer for the decade before that.
Can anyone explain?
- icco 16y agoMost people weren't publishing as computer scientists but rather electrical engineers and/or mathematicians. At least that's my assumption. CS is a pretty young field after all.
