As the article noted, VR and SL aren't compatible so from that perspective, there's nothing of value to buy. The real value in buying Linden Lab used to be, in my opinion, the in-world currency called the Linden (or L$). For a long time, I thought that Linden Lab should've made the L$ available as an Internet-wide currency but now cryptocurrencies appear to be a better alternative.
