I developed a hearing aid/amplifier app for iOS a few years ago, and I think many people now realize that a free or cheap app can really help with hearing loss. I probably ought to dust off the codebase and modernize it. People should still go see an audiologist to properly characterize their hearing loss and use that knowledge to choose a suitable product. There are a lot of hearing aid alternatives already out there, but they cannot be marketed to people with hearing loss until the new law takes effect.
