One of the major drivers of this new age in BuzzFeed has been driven by Ze Frank[0] of all people. He ushered in an era of "viral" content before that was even a thing. I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of how he has helped transform them into more of a original content company.

- jonez450 9y agoThat's a shame - I used to like Ze Frank a decade ago when he had that 1 year long series. Now he's literally promoting cancer.
- teej 9y agoMy persepective is completely different. I still see him as a brilliant and hard working guy. I think he was given an opportunity to take something crappy and transform it into something else, something worthwhile. What an incredible challenge! I think he has risen to that challenge and carved out a diamond in the rough that is BuzzFeed.
- QAPereo 9y agoBuzzFeed isn’t even a chunk of dirty glass, never mind diamonds.
- Lazare 9y agoI believe you may be letting your biases run away with you, or you haven't noticed how much Buzzfeed has grown. They generate a lot of content. Like most large content empires, much of it is bad, but some of it is great.
- QAPereo 9y agoThey generate masses of content, vast and endless swathes of it; they’re the cancerous clenched fist of Brandolini’s law incarnate.
- katastic 9y agoBuzzFeed is just another gawker. I mean, who cares if Gawker outed a gay guy just for clicks, or air'd people's sex tapes? THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL, right? They should be admired! That's what this thread is leaning to at the moment.
- majormajor 9y agoHas BuzzFeed done either of those? I don't follow them that closely, but this seems like a pretty huge leap of a comparison.
- untog 9y agoWhat is he promoting that is literally cancer?
