Cynically, the complaint about SF isn't that it's unacceptable, it's that it's only acceptable if you got in early and bought property. Assuming these people are buying up houses or condos in Denver, voting to make it like the Bay is a profitable move. (More realistically, I'll be most of them just hated a few specific aspects of the Bay.)
