  The problem with that experiment is that you shouldn’t the concerned with whether the man in the room knows Chinese but whether the room and the man as a system knows Chinese.

    Imagine the computer program is a neural network that has been trained with thousand hours of Chinese videos. If the human replicate the computer program including the training phase he may well have learned Chinese at the end
