Nobody interviewed me, I was just a high school kid, but here's what I remember. A few years before this poster appeared, normal people wouldn't consider opposing the war or the draft. The effect of this poster (and many other things like it) was to show that wasn't unthinkable, lots of people did think it and even did it -- so maybe you could too. Many people don't hold strong opinions on most issues --- they just go along with the received opinion out of inertia or peer pressure. Something like this poster can help jog them out of that.
