"Do women react to alcohol differently?"
Yes, actually. Women metabolize it differently, plus size matters. Men are typically larger than women. They can handle more liquor and be less drunk. So a hetero couple that are consuming alcohol together at the same pace typically causes dramatically greater impairment for her than for him and more quickly.
Alcohol is the single most common date rape drug and is a factor in the vast majority of date rapes.
Additionally, highly sexually aroused women lose certain cognitive functions. This is not true for men. I strongly suspect this element is a significant factor in many social norms that establish different expectations for male and female sexual behavior.
Women literally have their judgment impaired by high arousal. I think this is part of why society as a whole is pickier about the need for women to pursue more cautious strategies when choosing a sex partner.

I strongly suspect this element is a significant factor in many social norms that establish different expectations for male and female sexual behavior. I did not know that! Do you have any references at hand?
- Mz 9y agoNo. I saw it on a TV show years ago. I am on a phone. I am in no position to provide a citation.
- caractacus 9y ago> Women literally have their judgment impaired by high arousal. Are.... are you serious? Are you actually proposing this as a valid argument based on "I saw it on a tv show once"?
- Mz 9y agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSOFtSG6nDo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSOFtSG6nDo https://boards.themarriagebed.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=66810 https://boards.themarriagebed.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=66810 Female alertness is impaired in a way that male alertness is not. Some women literally lose consciousness during orgasm. The video is a short clip. It is likely exactly the piece I saw on TV once.
- PeterStuer 9y ago"during orgasm" is the key point here, so relevance to the situation seems far-sought.
- Mz 9y agoI am female. I have firsthand experience with the arousal process. But, you know, just have your LOLs because sex is giggle-worthy. Firsthand experience of a woman plus MRI based research conclusions be damned. I think I am done here. You boys just have fun with this. Never mind that it is a serious topic, and, yes, I meant it and I have cited my source. (Though my wording was imperfect. A better phrasing would be that women lose cognitive functions that men do not lose, which is what I intended. I still think it is bad form to openly mock the point, especially given the subject matter under discussion.) To whomever downvoted me: This is a discussion of rape and sexual assault. Multiple men have been openly mocking of me here en masse. It is completely disrespectful. You downvoting my annoyed reply to that makes you very much part of the problem here.
- soneca 9y agoI upvoted you because I believe your points are fair. But I must say that, unless people edited their comments, I didnt ser any mocking. I see people challenging your statement. I also don't think the History channel show is a respectable source. So, as I see it, this source is not a convincing argument to who is challenging your statements. But, if people were really mocking you, I completely agree it is inadequate and disrespectful
- barrkel 9y agoI can attest that men also do things they immediately regret after sexual release. If that isn't impaired judgement during sexual arousal, I don't understand what exactly you mean.
- gadders 9y ago>> Additionally, highly sexually aroused women lose certain cognitive functions. This is not true for men. I think we have plenty of male examples where that is not true.
- mercer 9y agoYeah. It's absolutely true for men. I do agree on the alcohol tolerance though. It's such a relatively 'simple' thing, but I think it might play a much bigger role than we realize. I'm a small man and most of my too-drunk experiences involved keeping up with bigger men who often also drank more. And that wasn't a conscious thing. I just automatically followed their drinking behavior, except I couldn't handle it.

- gadders 9y agoYes, but that assumes men and women are drinking the same drinks. That's not always the case.
- PeterStuer 9y ago"Additionally, highly sexually aroused women lose certain cognitive functions. This is not true for men." Made me LOL. Especially the latter part.

- digi_owl 9y agoWhile perhaps a bit to the side of this, i recall reading about how the preference in men change with menstrual cycle.
