I would go even further to argue that you can get a high quality meal in most of the US for that price as well.

- volkk 9y agoexcept blue apron is generally in tech hubs where an average delicious meal is probably ~15$ although i would still argue that 10$ for the meal plus the time to cook it is still more expensive than paying the $12-15 to order something from seamless. not worth it to me at all
- ProAm 9y ago> except blue apron is generally in tech hubs Their ads say they can deliver to 97% of the continental US
- volkk 9y agoi dont disagree but i dont imagine anybody aside from techy 20-30s something from using this or even hearing about it.
- emodendroket 9y agoBased on where they advertise I'd say that's not their entire target audience at all.
- nielsbot 9y agoCan you give examples? To me $10 seems low. Guess it depends what you mean by "high quality". Are we talking prepared or raw ingredients?
- UncleMeat 9y agoEthnic food. Even in the insanely expensive bay area it is possible to get meals prepared from scratch for less than 10 bucks.
- jasode 9y agoIt doesn't seem like that's true in the USA. To look around for comparison, I looked at Chili's menu for a popular dinner item: https://www.chilis.com/menu/fajitas-enchiladas/chicken-enchiladas https://www.chilis.com/menu/fajitas-enchiladas/chicken-enchi... Menu price depends on zipcode. For New Jersey, the price was $9.79 before tax and tip. Californa was $9.99. Also, most national chains like Applebees, Chilis, TGI Friday's microwave their food. The end result is a meal that Blue Apron customers wouldn't consider to be the same quality. Blue Apron may be overpriced but I can't think of any restaurant that sells comparable meals (similar ingredients) for the same price. Also, actually going to the restaurant is often more of hassle than just staying home and having meals delivered.
- dmix 9y agoThe key is also delivery. Once you factor in delivery it's always usually $30 for my spouse and me. And we almost exclusively buy from well-priced Asian restaurants.
- alexkavon 9y agoI guess to clarify, I'm referring to the many, many small towns and similar areas with small cafes and restaurants that have a low cost of living and can provide high quality $10 meals as compared to large chains that run similar pricing and populate areas such as big cities with higher cost of living.
- smt88 9y agoThis isn't true. In many cities that aren't LA, Chicago, NYC, or SF, you can get amazing food for that much or less. Where I live, ethnic food is dirt-cheap and amazing (a benefit of huge immigrant and refugee populations in the burbs).
- alexkavon 9y agoI'm glad we're in agreement.
