HPC.. POWER is usually 2 years ahead of Intel in most desirable metrics (IPC, SMT, cache size, memory bandwidth, I/O bandwidth, coherent expansion bus). Now that intel is on a 3 year cycle too, there wont be any gap years.. it will probably dominate HPC for a long time.
