Inexpensive IKEA furniture means I have no compunction e.g. cutting legs to get the correct typing/working height. That said, a lot of IKEA furniture does not have the most dense/durable wood. Hacking's one thing. Big bucks for the finished hacks, is likely still getting you something that's not that durable, especially if exposed to any considerable wear and tear.
