I highly encourage this kind of experimentation! Unix has a long tradition of neat little languages that make system programming easier... but none of them is all that good. I planned to make a language like this myself, and still do, in the back of my mind. Ever since running into Nix and NixOS, I've felt that I have to integrate that worldview into the hypothetical language/shell design. Not sure how.
