As far as I can tell, this claim is made up.
Here's the full results packet form the 2017 National Championship: http://results.speechanddebate.org/2017/posting/2017%20Result%20Booklet_07-18-17.553692206.pdf http://results.speechanddebate.org/2017/posting/2017%20Resul....
Cmd-F McCordick: 0 results. (Did not even participate?)
Cmd-F Regis: 5th place in public forum (Eoin Matthews & Randall Zuccalmaglio).
- mathperson 9y agoI think it's this event. I assumed he was talking TOC or the event you posted. Ive never even heard of this format.. But it looks pretty dull in my opinion compared to ld or policy or even parli https://www.regis.org/articletest.cfm?id=7403 https://www.regis.org/articletest.cfm?id=7403
- lurker721 9y agoSo the format he wrote about is not the format he participated in. But he somehow neglected to mention that fact. Nice.
- mathperson 9y agoI found him in some tabroom results for LD and public forum-so he definitely competed at least a little in the events he criticizes-but I agree it seems a tad deceptive. I feel bad attacking his credentials-I am sure he was a fine debater. This article is of course...quite silly. Comparing children reading foucault and baudrillard or cass sunstein and talking quickly about nuclear proliferation with "the kind of language currently poisoning our public sphere" is not even wrong.
