The future of spy drone tech lands after two weeks in the air
- lispm 16y agoWon't take long and weapons will be mounted to it and it will be deployed to hunt humans. Just like the other UAVs: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/feb/07/raf-drones-afghanistan http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/feb/07/raf-drones-afghanis...
- tomjen3 16y agoNews like this keeps getting posted like it is a bad thing - but it isn't. At this rate everybody will have access to targeting drones soon, which will prevent plenty of wars as it will make it possible for even a third rate nation to target anyone, anywhere (outside of bunkers). This is good news.
- MikeCapone 16y agoGood news as long as it really reduces the number of civilian deaths and reduces the number of all out wars. But if it makes first-strikes easier and cheaper, it could actually help start more conflicts where one side would have otherwise folded before an armed confrontation ever took place, but now decided that they can cheaply stay in the fight.
- bjelkeman-again 16y agoI predict it will encourage more attempts to win asymmetric wars, with brute force. Brute force is a blunt instrument. Killing more civilians and thereby gaining the attacker further enemies, not measured in gunships or tanks, but men and women with a major grudge. These men and women can't be beaten through the use of airpower.
- moolave 16y agoWhen they come up with breakthrough technology like this, another company is developing an anti-aircraft weapon against this as well.
- jacksoncarter 16y agoThe next versions will be dog fight enabled. This one looks slow and clunky, but there will be some designed to seek and destroy the recon drones.
- AndrewDucker 16y agoIt flies at 60,000 feet and has to be incredibly light. I can't see much armament being strapped to it. You'd use this for observation, and other drones to fly in at lower level and carry out missions.
- theprodigy 16y agoThis will totally help fight enemies in the 4th generation warfare. When the cost of these drones fall and can be equipped with infrared cameras we can keep eyes on the battle field constantly. We can see enemies moving and hiding in the battlefield, gain intelligence and take them out. This can lower american casualties.
