It sucks that you have to deal with this (I've been there) but I appreciate the added detail. Along with a few other stories I've heard, this has me leery of upgrading to High Sierra in the near future (although my MBP doesn't really have anything of importance on it). Good luck, hopefully you can get everything back in order before the weekend is over.
