Netflix also does this. I unsubscribed and many months later subscribed again only to find that all my everything was exactly the same. They never deleted my account. With regard to Facebook, not exactly the same thing, but in August, I tweeted that I haven't logged in to Facebook in over a month. The next day, I got an email from Facebook asking if I'm having trouble logging in to Facebook.
