I think the inclusion of blockchain is misleading. I had to wrap my brains around the straw-man first to understand what the article is trying to show-case. It should simply say FaunaDB supports distributed transaction. Separately, distributed transaction is not the primary motivation for using blockchain. For ledger/financial use cases its the verification and auditing confidence it provides.
