I think you're making a sort of Bayesian argument for racism, and I can see how consumption of a particularly odious media diet could cause that. But I don't buy the idea that it's rational to hold racist views toward, say, Barack Obama and call him names.

Is it not reasonable to conclude that the reason that blacks are shot more often by police officers is that they are more likely to be involved in violent altercations with officers, because they are more likely to be violent criminals? Obama, Kaepernick, and all the others are stoking these flames, but they're not protesting oppression, just that people of their ethnic group suffer the consequences of their own violence and belligerency. In this way I think it's fine and rational to be a bit racist towards Obama, due to him trying to shield members of his ethnic group from consequence like many blacks who gain political power (e.g. Mayor of Baltimore during the 2015 riots). Slurs are vulgar and unnecessary.

- AaronFriel 9y agoI thought your other response about forgetting the password for a throwaway was satisfactory. Why is it that you don't take Kaepernick at his word about what he's protesting?
