Ask HN: Surprising sales skills

PG mentioned somewhere (I don't know which essay) that he was surprised that he turned out to be a good salesman. I'm wondering if anyone else could shed any light on similar experiences, if you come from a technical background and discover things that others might benefit from. thanks.
