i've started using Riak and i've fallen in love. I still love couch but my new db of choice is Riak, for both Erlang and Rails projects.
My recommendations (to my friends) on noSQL:
1. If you're doing replication with devices, or the replication endpoints are not in your control, use CouchDB.
2. If you need speed, and you don't mind losing your data, use mongoDB.
3. Otherwise, use Riak.
- Nwallins 16y agoWhat exactly do you mean by replication with devices?
- rubyrescue 16y agoif you want to embed a database in a mobile device that can replicate with a the server, couch is a good fit.
- roder 16y agoRiak is definitely my choice for object persistance. I've been playing a lot lately with Python's Flask and using the python-riak client (via protobuffs) it's just enjoyable. If you want to see how easy it is to create a cluster of riak nodes, I made Riakaws for deploying a cluster on Amazon Webservices - http://github.com/roder/riakaws http://github.com/roder/riakaws
