I wonder how much of this is just money? Do you really need a team full of 40-50 year old people making big money, or is a couple of them plus a bunch of junior people good enough? It saves you money, the expensive people train the young ones to do the job well and make sure nothing gets screwed up badly. Seems like the nature of the job somewhat dictates that competition will increase drastically as you move up in experience.
