- Jonnax 9y agoHackernews is social media. You've got an account, you make posts and interact with people.
- alanbernstein 9y agoSo any site with comments is social media?
- Jonnax 9y agoIf you were the US government defining what "Social media" means, then there's no real difference between Hacker News or any other similar site and Twitter.
- neverminder 9y agoYeah, not sure they would appreciate the "hacker" part though.
- ptero 9y agoI suspect they would, but I doubt one would appreciate their appreciation.
- Chirael 9y agoI would define social media as having "friends" or "followers" - something that could be used to construct a "social network" or "social graph". IMO HN is just a "message board" (for those who actually post - I suspect the majority just visit the front page for some interesting articles and move on)
