This is exciting stuff but will it have any downsides for the majority (??) of users who don't use pandas for big data? Also, this all sounds very similar to the Blaze ecosystem, whatever happened to that? Finally, will arrow/feather replace hdf5 and bcolz in the future?
- misnome 9y agoBlaze was also my thought - I'd love to know how this/these proposals match up with what Blaze is doing/planning to do.
- wesm 9y agoThe first talk about Blaze was in November 2012. It was marketed as many things over the years, including "pandas for Big Data". My understanding is that Anaconda (fka Continuum Analytics) is no longer working on it.
