2 weeks in atm, no intention of smoking again. But this anecdote resonates with me. I think I've finally come to accept that that "Something about them is just so nice with alcohol" is just your lizard brain screaming for more of whatever you're on, it's all the same mechanism. It has a certain romanticism that goes along with it. Sitting down with a beer, having a dart, chilling out.
- mitchty 9y agoWhat does having a dart mean? Never heard that phrase before.
- grzm 9y agoFrom the context, I suspect it means smoking a cigarette. Urban dictionary confirms my suspicion: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Dart http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Dart
- johnvonneumann 9y agoDart is an Aussie term, you probably wouldn't hear your standard upper class snob say it. We have a variety of words for cigarettes. I would very rarely use the term cigarette, too many syllables.
- mitchty 9y agoCool never heard it before and that explains it, thanks!
- KGIII 9y agoCigars and rum or whiskey. I don't really drink anymore, but I do enjoy my cigars. I'm not sure I could enjoy drinking without tobacco. They just go together, at least in my mind.
- johnvonneumann 9y agoYeah I think I've gotta give myself some time away from darts first before trying cigars, I reckon I'm still stuck in "inhale mode". And yeah too right, I get the same feeling, I've cut down my drinking substantially since quitting. Not a bad thing.
- KGIII 9y agoI frequently inhale my cigar smoke, to the chagrin of cigar smokers everywhere. Cigars are one of the few areas in life where I pamper myself. I am not really a cigar snob, but I do buy some pretty expensive cigars and then smoke a half-dozen per day. Don't get me wrong, I'll smoke a White Owl, if offered, but I much prefer better cigars. I'm not brand-specific, and I'll even try different styles and sizes. I don't always buy very expensive cigars but I do splurge sometimes. (I am trying to avoid recommending specifics, I probably shouldn't be suggesting people smoke.)
