Every business process that has run for decades is complicated. Think how much bugs have been "fixed" and how many custom little things have been built. Managing users, expectations, deliverable of such things is very complicated.
- sidlls 9y agoYou're right about the accretion of ad-hoc fixes over time. Some of these might be unnecessary when analysed with hindsight and need not be faithfully reproduced in a new component or system.
- kfk 9y agoSure, but go tell that to 300 angry users that used that particular useless feature for 20 years
