One reason is surely that good developers can pay for OSX hardware with their high salaries, whereas less talented devs and therefore devs with low salaries are stuck with Linux.
This is the case with me. I'm stuck on a Ubuntu computer, and not hating it as I get used to it over time, because I inherited a really old macbook that wasn't updated to Snow Leopard. Since I couldn't find an update CD, and certainly couldn't afford a new Macbook Pro, I had to put Ubuntu on it and deal.

- pimeys 9y agoOne here! At work a custom workstation with huge monitors, at home a good maxed out laptop. Always using Linux. I used Macs during the G4 years but I've never been a fan with user interfaces having too much clutter and sparkles in them. A good window manager, terminal and Emacs is all I need.
