It's sad to see dwindling number of 747 in airline fleet. 747-8 lives on, but it's more popular as a cargo variant.
It will always be the most beautiful passenger jet ever made.
- lathiat 9y agoI love it, that's great. Still trying to get upstairs on a Qantas 747 before they are all gone.. haven't had any luck on upgrades so far :(
- pcurve 9y agoSomeone was kind enough to tape it :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJUiUaMXi9M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJUiUaMXi9M
- tadfisher 9y agoAgreed, the 747 is a marvelous feat of both engineering and design. But the fall of the 747 (and the A380) is a canary for the best possible improvement in passenger comfort since the 1970s, and that's the upcoming demise of the hub-and-spoke model in favor of point-to-point flying. I will personally trade 8 hours of my life in cramped seating for the untold number of hours I've spent dealing with connections at crowded/unfamiliar airports and the incompetence of the airlines at connecting me to my destination on time. Not to mention the horrendous safety standards of the regional contractors that keep the hub-and-spoke model spinning.
- pcurve 9y agoMe too. I always go for non-stop if one is available, even if it costs 400-500 more. I really hate getting on and off airplane once I'm settled in. So much so, I pick window seat to avoid getting up for people sitting next to me. It's a shame because I actually looove take off... so I wouldn't mind experiencing more of that for the price of one ticket. :-)

- skybrian 9y agoStatistically speaking, even the least safe airline is very safe compared to just about any other form of transportation.
