IMO micropayments would only be additive. (Ad-itive? ;D) In the "you fill the space you have" sense. XYZ news org would be giddily accepting micropayments w/ no ads but then there'd've been "the lean times" and instead of laying off 75% of their staff and having the C*'s take massive pay cuts, they'd add ads. And we'd be right where we are... only with micropayments.
