Personally I found the code examples that shipped with xcode (especially iPhoneCoreDataRecipes http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/iPhoneCoreDataRecipes/Introduction/Intro.html http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/iPhoneC...) to be the most helpful when starting out.
