My guess (from personal experience) you launch and... nothing happens. The life goes back to normal and you're seeing 30 visits/day in Google Analytics. So you try sending out press releases, asking bloggers you know to mention your site, all those efforts result in a few spikes to 2-5K/day and then it goes back to 30. After a while you give up and move on to the next thing. Did I guess right?
