What the hell? Medium is soft-blocking articles now?
- tonystubblebine 9y agoOh, you missed that? Medium went on a whole crusade against ad-supported content and then built a metered paywall and are sharing that revenue with the authors. I think it's good and could tell you a lot more about it because I've written for their new program and had one of the first publications to join.
- ktta 9y agoInteresting. I thought it was more of a Quora like login to see anything model(but I think Quora has since removed it), which was why I was surprised. I can't really find a fault with the current model of Quora, but for some reason $5/month sounds a bit high.

- tonystubblebine 9y agoRe: $5. It'll be sort of interesting to see what it looks like in three years. As of now, I tell people that if they like my stuff, then the $5 is a bargain. We're publishing crazy detailed personal development stuff behind the paywall. Definitely worthwhile. But if that's not your thing, then it's much less of a guarantee right in this moment. In three years though... if they execute on a Netflix for content model... that $5 could be crazy compelling. There is a lot of great writing that would be unlocked by just having a reader who already paid rather than trying to jump through content marketing, SEO and virality hoops.
