Not like touchid worked through gloves either.
Passcode.
- protomyth 9y agoremoving my glove for a second is a lot easier than undoing the clothing covering my head
- ninkendo 9y agoWhat ianferrel is saying, that in all the scenarios you could use TouchID on previous phones, you can use your passcode on the iPhone X. I think it's totally fine actually... I'm sure there are several strange scenarios where FaceID is cumbersome because you can't point your phone straight at your face, but in those scenarios you can always just type your passcode. That in combination with scenarios where FaceID is more available than TouchID (wet hands, for instance), I think it probably evens out.
- mitchty 9y agoI always found it easier to just pulling up headwear than pulling off crazy gauntlet gloves at -30.
- arrrg 9y agoThe passcode is the sensible fallback then.
- dkrich 9y agoYou're right, why didn't Apple product designers consider the massive segment of the population attempting to unlock their devices via facial recognition in the midst of a blizzard?
- protomyth 9y agowell, I'm pretty sure it won't work properly with a burqa or niqab either, but anyone who has an obstructed face is pretty much hosed.
