These self driving systems need to use machine learning models more in line with the what humans see. Nobody just recognizes the rear of a car... we look at the rear of a car and we are aware of its entire three dimensional shape and the three dimensional structure of the universe around the same car. Are there any machine learning models that can achieve this level of recognition or is it all just associating names with pictures?
- jpindar 9y agoDid you see the article recently about recognizing stop signs? However the machine supposedly recognized stop signs, it had nothing to do with them being red, hexagonal, or saying "STOP". It was possible to deface a sign such that it was clearly still red, hexagonal, etc. but the machine didn't recognize it. So IMO the machine had no 'mental model' of what a stop sign is.
