When i was a child all the street and business lights were turned off at about 11pm.
Now they are on 24/7
Incredibly wasteful, although i suppose it is safer to go about ones business at night.
It certainly gave the opportunity to view the stars even if one lived in city areas.
- bdamm 9y agoQuite recently I lived in a small town far from cities with almost no street lights. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to simply look up and gaze at the glorious Milky Way unaided.
- russdill 9y agoI'm curious if in many decades self driving vehicles will eliminate the need for most night time street lighting.
