Who is advocating writing tests before specs? I've never heard anyone say TDD involves that. In this article he even defines the term: "TDD is the process of writing automated tests to ensure that code works before writing the implementation."
- zxcmx 9y agoFair call, the author does just advocate tests before code rather than "tests as thinking". But oh, there are a ton of people who have tried to use tdd as a design process (aka test driven design, as opposed to development, I guess). It's one position in a spectrum of viewpoints. - UK-AL 9y agoThe idea is to write tests that match your specs. So your tests literally look like your specs, and then you write code that passes the tests. It should not replace specs.
