Disclaimer: I run a competing library to the uncomplicate series of libraries.
If you want that set of guarantees with just as ease of use,you can look in to ours:
http://nd4j.org/ http://nd4j.org/
We have various usage examples here:
https://github.com/deeplearning4j/dl4j-examples/tree/master/nd4j-examples/src/main/java/org/nd4j/examples https://github.com/deeplearning4j/dl4j-examples/tree/master/...
and the userguide:

We have a lot going on underneath the hood, but we pre compile everything out of the box.
We maintain a whole software stack for JNI called javacpp:
https://github.com/bytedeco/javacpp https://github.com/bytedeco/javacpp
One of those includes something called a "preset" which bundles openblas as a maven dependency (with the ability to link to mkl if you want)
We support cuda as well.

- dragandj 9y agoHi Adam, Perhaps you'd be interested in writing a joint article with me where we explore both Neanderthal and ND4J side by side? Maybe you could also benefit of ClojureCUDA's ease of use vs using low-level Java bindings? This could be a stretch, I know :) BTW Congratulations on your book on Deep learning!
- agibsonccc 9y agoSure! Would love to. I don't think we can use your java bindings. We have our own off heap memory management and a lot of other stuff going on under the hood. Email in profile.
