I like the declarative nature of CSS. I find that keeping what I do simple and small and well documented makes the simple stuff I do easy to maintain. Yes, I can write you (another) 100kloc of Java or C++ or JS if you really want, but I did also enjoy Standard ML and Prolog over more and more imperative code with exciting race and portability issues.
