I think it's practical.
- ot 9y agoRead the last part of my comment, I suspect they don't use it for the main web index but only for the fresh subindexes. A search engine like Bing can have multiple indexing systems in production for different use cases.
- jsnell 9y agoRight, that's the exact use case they state in the paper: > For the past 4 years, BitFunnel has powered Bing’s fresh index of recently crawled documents. So it's specialized. But why would that mean it's impractical?
