Once self driving 1-2 person pods are a thing, the suburbs will become far more desirable than they are today. Once transportation goes entirely autonomous, vehicle speeds could slowly creep up, making farther suburbs more accessible. We're talking at least one decade, but probably several decades, but things are going to change pretty dramatically.
