Where do you think people go when they move out of cities? Is having 3% of the countries land mass covered with dense cities really better than having 50% of it covered with attrocious suburbs and parking lots? Where everyone has to have a car and hour long commutes? Comparing with slums in third world countries is ridiculous. The US has plenty of slums. White people and businesses fleeing cities makes it worse, not better. I don't know how you confused cause and effect so badly to think cities cause poverty.
