> Amateur. What you do is you sweet talk the clinicians into using their medical judgement to adopt the form as part of their routine clinical practice and get them to include it as part of the patient's medical records. Later... you approach the IRB for a retrospective chart review study and get blessed with waived consent. Bonus: very likely to also get expedited review.

- j88439h84 9y agoWhat form?
- haltingthoughts 9y agoThe author was trying to test whether a simple common test for bipolar was accurate. Presumably, the suggestion is to make the test a form filled out by each doctor for each patient. Then months or years later the author could do a chart review and see whether the test results were accurate.
- nohat 9y agoTo potentially clarify: the test is just a form. It's a form with some questions about mood, and is currently being used to diagnose bipolar disorder (inappropriately, the author believes).
- kerbalspacepro 9y agoThat sounds more unethical though?
