I'm with you on this. I'd be really interested in seeing, for example, an "Open Division" in Track-and-Field, whereby anything goes, up to and including gene modification and cybernetic enhancement. It would be both a sport and a laboratory for transhumanism. I'd be incredibly interested to see what science came out of it. There are probably ethical arguments to be made against doing that, but... meh.
