Sad news, indeed.
The cause of death is only mentioned in the headline. In fact, the article says:
> It’s not clear exactly what happened to Blackman, who just opened a new Portland office for AWS Elemental last week and was planning business trips for the next few weeks, according to emails we exchanged at the end of last week. Blackman’s family is asking the company and investors to refrain from commenting publicly, but GeekWire confirmed the sad news with a person familiar with Blackman and AWS Elemental.
- iaw 9y agoMy understanding is that 'cardiac events' are exceedingly rare for healthy men in their 40s. Beyond weight or genetic predisposition I'm under the impression that stimulants, especially prolonged usage, can damage the heart. Is it possible that we're seeing a victim of cognitive performance aid abuse?
- thenipper 9y agoNot sure if this will show up since the parent is downvoted. Oddly enough the anniversary of a close friend dieing of a cardiac event is tonight. He was a similar age and definitely not a stimulant user. It's disgusting to go there when there is a perfectly rational explanation. My condolences to this mans family and friends.
