  If I started at 21-22 I'd be able to save an extra $1-2M by retirement, so yes, it is late when you're optimizing for financial independence.

  To be honest if you're making minimum wage in the USA, you are also way ahead of the curve for most people on the planet. But yeah, people in this thread are doing a bit better than most people in America! I heard the other day that 2/3 to 3/4 of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and could not afford an unplanned $500 expense.
