Impressive. But off the top of my head I can count a few more than 10 YC companies valued at $1B or more:
1) Airbnb
2) Quora
3) Stripe
4) Dropbox
5) Instacart
6) Coinbase
7) Reddit
8) Cruise
9) Twitch
10) Gusto
11) Zenefits
12) Docker
13) Machine Zone
And a few more that are pretty close to $1B
- Cyph0n 9y agoAre you sure about Reddit, Quora, Docker, and Twitch? Edit: > But off the top of my head I can count a few more than 10 billion-dollar companies funded by YC. I thought you were listing 10B+ companies.
- bpicolo 9y agoTwitch was bought for 970m. preeeetty close but not technically a billion. Quora had a 1.7b valuation in series D recently
- capocannoniere 9y agoReddit raised $200 million in funding and is now valued at $1.8 billion [1] Q&A app Quora valued around $1.8 billion in $85 million fundraise [2] Docker Is Raising Funding at $1.3B Valuation [3] Twitch was acquired by $970M, so I guess not quite $1B. - Cyph0n 9y agoSee my edit above. Your wording could be better.
- capocannoniere 9y agoYou're right. Fixed
- jacquesm 9y agoZenefits was definitely valued at > $1B at some point but is this still true after the adjustment and the various rounds of lay-offs?
- dragonwriter 9y agoIsn't “valued at” based on the most recent funding round (in the absence of public trading, the only clear objective measure for a pre-IPO startup), so if they haven't raised since the problems, they'd still be “valued at” the same amount, to the most current available information?
- jacquesm 9y agoGood point, yes, until there is another transaction we will not know for sure. But I would be quite surprised if they did another round and it would be an 'up' round.
- mmcconnell1618 9y agoAlum may mean founders, not companies. Maybe there are 10 founders personally in the three commas club.
