In U.S. Public Statues of Confederate Soldiers Nearly Double Those of Women
- belorn 9y agoIf people want to use representation to argue what public statues should be kept and which should be melted down, it should really be made into a general rule. So out of statues with religious theme, only 70% should be of the Christian faith.
- ccrush 9y agoI think that the author proposed a reasonable solution to preserving civil war history monuments: build a monument to someone that was wronged by the Confederates right next to the monuments explaining the historical significance of the monument. It could be a statue to the unnamed slave, or we could memorialize everyone from then on: the voters rights representatives, the artistic revolution of the 20s, the WW2 units, desegregation, the Civil rights protests, and our first African American president. This country truly has come a long way, and we shouldn't hide and tear down parts of history. If anything, we should memorialize more of it.
