I can relate. I'm five years into a similar situation and trying daily to recover my attitude to risk. It's no surprise that I've discovered an interest in academia. What do you think it would take to get you to get excited on a side project again?
- codewritinfool 9y agoI honestly don't know. I do embedded for work, and have no problem there, maybe because it is very low-level and doesn't have a UI or run on a PC. I have had ideas, but when I'm home and I open the IDE, I sit there a while, stare at it, and then close it.
- oulu2006 9y agohey mate, just wanted to say sorry about how life turned out, you're at least in a position where you can do something else if you wanted to...most people are not. I know, it's small comfort. My first startup, 3.5 years of blood and tears, literally walked away with nothing (internal politics). No equity, I couldn't afford to exercise my options. Also, wanted to quickly add, i also had to pay out thousands in legal advice to even keep my options! we didn't even get proper option certificates in the years i was there...place was a mess.
