I guess it's a hate crime if it's considered a hate crime where it happens..? The more I think about it though, the more it seems wrong. There must be local laws that regulate hate crimes, it seems wrong that a corporation gets with someone and starts shaming people online instead of letting local authorities deal with it. And, if local authorities don't deal with it it's either legal—and so they should be able to do whatever they want no matter how stupid it is—or the problem is with the police, but a database doesn't solve that.
