The fact the Securities and Exchange Commission is seriously looking at ICO tokens is, to me at least, additional proof that this technology is here to stay. That said, the SEC has also said that in many cases these ICO tokens can be classified as securities, and therefor going forward, could be subject to all the same laws and regulations [0]. This turns ICO's from something a startup can offer fairly easily, to something that requires a team of expensive lawyers to do properly.
